The Alabama State Hornets continued their winning ways with a 34-13 decision over Prairie View A&M in Montgomery’s Crampton Bowl.  Tied at 13-13 after three quarters of play, the Hornets (6-1, 6-0 SWAC) got a one-yard run from Robert Randolph and two pass touchdowns in the final period of play to seal the victory.

206 of the Hornets’ offensive yards came in the fourth quarter while the Alabama State defense held Prairie View to three 1st downs and 22 offensive yards in the final period of play.

Arnell Fontenot led Prairie View (1-4, 0-4 SWAC) with 20 carries for 69 yards.  Quarterback Michael Hill passed for 161 yards on 11-23 attempts.  Van Sallier led the Panther defensive effort with 10 total tackles (six solo).  Hakeem Muhammed had eight tackles, one forced fumble and a pass breakup.

For the Hornets, Tarvaris Jackson completed 12-of-22 passes for 245 yards, three touchdowns and one interception while Alvance Robinson caught six passes for 143 yards (a long of 59 yards) and a 44-yard score.  Billy Gresham had 13 total tackles (five solo) and 1.5 tackles for loss while Anthony Johnson was 4-4 on extra points and remained perfect on field goals with a 2-of-2 effort.  He set the school scoring record on a first quarter PAT. He now has 232 points, breaking the mark of 222 set by running back Rico White (1990-93).
