Hornets Tune Up Against Morris Brown
10/6/02

The Hornets faced Morris Brown Saturday coming off a two game losing streak. They wanted to use this game as a confidence builder and to right a ship that has gotten off coarse a little bit before the final stretch of SWAC play.

"Our intent coming into this game was to use it to build our confidence back up," said ASU head coach L.C. Cole. "I think that's exactly what we did."

The Hornets defense swarmed again and got back on track.

"I thought that was important," said Cole. "The way our defense played last week was embarrassing. It was important for us to get them back on the right track."

The offenses rolled up 485 yards of total offense with quarterback Jermaine Crenshaw throwing to 77 yards and rushing for 119 yards. Gary Brashears also saw time had 155 yards passing and two touchdowns.

"I thought it was important for us to get this win and score some points on somebody," said Brashears. "We took what they gave us and played a good game. We made mistakes, me in particular, but we got the win and that's what's important."
