JSU's kicking game is improved
8/26/02
After last season head coach Robert Hughes first priority was to get a hold on the kicking game. Hughes and his coaching staff searched everywhere and found a diamond in the ruff, true freshman kicker Domenick Addison. This diamond plans to punt the tigers back in the championship with his 47.3 yards a punt he averaged in high school.

The kicking game last year was horrific at best. Seven punts were blocked and three for touchdowns. In a crucial game last year against Alabama State two punts were blocked for 61 and 58 in yards lost. This will be greatly improved with the addition of true kickers to the line up.

Along with Addision, two place-kickers, Ashcher Ashley of Decatur, Ga., and Jaime Salazar of Dallas were also signed.

"I'm pleasantly pleased with their progress, "Hughes said. "They're still making freshman mistakes, but I feel much better about it at this time than I did last year."

This could be what Jackson State needs to put them over the top.
