Jags Want to
Avoid Panthers Claws Southern university is trying to avoid an embarrassing season and turn it around and maybe even get in the SWAC championship game. The journey starts with P.V. a team no one wants to play. "We can't afford to look over anybody," Southern coach Pete Richardson said. "It's a big game for us. We still have an outside chance of getting to the conference championship." The Panthers have nothing to lose and playing a team like that can spoil or embarrass a team's prestige. Last year the Panthers went into the forth quarter leading the Jags 28-23, but would suffer from a Jaguar comeback lead by quarterback Quincy Richard. "Coach Dorsey is doing a great job
with that program," Richardson said. "You can really see the improvement in
that program." "They're struggling offensively," Richardson said. "But defensively, they play an eight-man front. They're going to be stunting. "They're not very large, but they're quick." The Panthers will be hungry and if the Jags don’t show up to play it could be a very long ride home.
