Welcome back to the SWACFootball.com Band Report Page! The bands in the SWAC have a full season to show the fans who can command the most respect during halftime.  With so many music artists showcasing brass and major percussion in their music such as Amerie’s “One Thing”, Snoop Dogg’s “Signs”(Ain’t No G), and Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl”, the fans are quite sure to hear at least one of these songs.

Also, everyone mourned the lost of musical great Luther Vandross. Several of the bands are probably writing tributes to him as well.  Destiny’s Child is saying farewell to their trio so expect to hear a few songs such as “Girl” and “Cater to U”.  Other artists that could get airtime on the football field are Usher, Mariah Carey, and John Legend. But let’s not forget our classics like Earth, Wind, & Fire, Maze, and Michael Jackson which are played by most of the bands at least once during a game. 

There are also questions people would like to know the answer to. Will Dr. Isaac Greggs retire from Southern University this year as band director? Is Prairie View’s drum section going to provide the same spectacular routine from last year’s season? And last but not least, can all the teams bring their bands with them when they travel to away games?
