Thomas has Turnaround in Mind

The fans are buzzing about the new look Texas Southern will have this year. Head Coach Bill Thomas added two new coordinators to his staff; Offensive Coordinator Mark Orlando and Defensive Coordinator Danny Palmer.

Mark Orlando, a recent acquisition from Southern University will breathe life back into Texas Southern's stale offense.  His major concern is making sure the offense improves this season. To do this he must find a way to hold the turnovers the no-huddle offense may produce. The Tigers can't afford to get behind early in the game.

The offense is a second half offense but if it's been going three and out all game don't expect it to change in the fourth quarter. When the offense goes three and out it puts the defense back on the field in short period of time. This means no rest for the defense. Palmer must find depth on defense in order to make it work.

Coach Palmer's job is pretty easy considering the Tigers defense has always been solid. The factor of the no-huddle offense may give Oliver problems early in the season.

The keys to winning this season is produce minimum turnovers and establish multiple first down drives.

Predicted season: 7-4

(Predicted loses: Southwest Texas State, Stillman College, Grambling State University, Southern University)
