The Lions May Stay Caged

Fans don't know what was the biggest shock last year. The turnaround of Alcorn State or how disappointing University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff's season was. Injuries played a toll on the season but not as much as the Lions over confidence entering  the season.

UAPB created a formula to wining in the SWAC in 2000 by slowing the game down and running down the clock. A few distinct factors changed in the 2001 season. Anticipating coaches expected the same performance from the team which was impossible due to the injuries that crippled the team's program. The unfortunate outcome was that the team should have won the division.

Expect more of the same this year as they will most likely finish last in the West division. They may only win three games, but will lose the rest of the games by small margin early in the season. After week 5 the Golden Lions will begin to lay down and not compete as they did at Prairie View's Homecoming last year.

Predicted season: 3-8

(Wins: Mississippi Valley Sate, Kentucky State, Lane College)
