That is very true. But, if we can keep our well known coaches, then we can still steal some of the best recruits from D1 schools. When Doug Williams walks into a high school, the kids know he was in the NFL and won a Super Bowl and MVP. They remember him from when they were younger. Our kids forgot what the past generation of great coaches in Black College Football did. They weren't alive then and weren't exposed to it unlike I was. Now... We must use our NFL stars as examples and reasons to go to HBCUs. We can't only raise up our own schools. We must raise all of us so that the competition level isn't laughed at by scouts. All the teams are needed not just four great teams blowing out the rest. In order for us to be great we all must be great. Let's take Louisiana for example. We have great high school players. Now no one will tell me that LSU gets every good player out of the state. They don't have enough scholarships for that. True other schools come and get some too. But not all... That is the same with every other state. Our kids are not over looked, just limited in their choices. We have to offer them more. Why should a black kid go to schools like Northwestern State and McNeese State when there are schools like Southern and Grambling? No offense to them but they aren't looking out for the better good of our kids. Just out for the better good of their programs. We have to open the kids eyes to more than just what they can get now, but what they can get in the future. More than just that scholarship for four years but to become men for the rest of their lives. That's what our old coaches provided and that's what we need know. Until our current coaches realize that, things won't change. I think they are starting to get the point.
