I think that any of the teams could hold there own after about two years of recruiting. I don't think that any team has the defense man for man to match with the majority of teams in Conference USA. Maybe one or two players could but not a whole team. When Grambling played Louisville two years ago, we got destroyed. No one player can elevate a team to the next level in football no matter how good he is. This is not basketball where one man can dominate a game. Southern's offense is not explosive. They can't beat every team in the SWAC let alone dominate the SWAC. They can't beat Northwestern State at home or Tulane who is in lower end of Conference USA. How will they contend against the likes of Louisville, Cincinnatti, and East Carolina? Let's see how J-State does against Southern Miss who is also in Conference USA then we can compare. Southern needs to dominate I-AA before we can talk about anything else. I think that the Sun Belt conference is one that would be easier to win in. Just look at their teams; Middle Tenn. St., North Texas, New Mexico State, La Lafayette, Arkansas State, Louisiana Monroe, and Idaho. Easily J-State, Southern, or Grambling could move up compete and maybe even win the conference. J-State because of their offense but would lose for lack of defense. Southern because of their offense and steady defense. Grambling because of their defense and balance on offense. I would like to say again SOUTHERN'S OFFENSE IS NOT EXPLOSIVE. When they blow every team out in the SWAC then I will go with that but until then I'll be waiting.
